Based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire our client is part of a leading, food manufacturing company with a portfolio of leading brands. With group sales of over £2.7 billion and with 60 sites in UK, they are home to some of the nations favourite foods. By building strong customer relationships and maintaining a ‘unique competitive position’, they have adopted an innovative approach to growing their brands and maintaining ‘brand leader’ status. This site in particular manufactures a range branded and non branded cake products, and as such are seeking a Packaging Technologist to assist NPD Managers in developing packaging options that meet the concept briefs in line with customer, marketing and operational requirements.

You will be tasked with preparing packaging concepts that meet the needs of both the customer and the business. Liaising with suppliers on availability of packaging samples/new packaging materials/specifications will also be key in this role, as will be supporting product launches and assist with customer visits. You will also carry out plant trials with minimum disruption and cost, and maintain records to provide a fully comprehensive packaging data file.

You will be HND/BTEC National Certificate educated with operational experience of cake manufacturing. Food packaging experience and the ability to create bench samples is essential. You will have good team working skills and demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and respond to the short term demands of customers.
